Do any of you suffer from migraines? My migraines have been a significant (and awful) part of my life for the last ten years. They started when I turned 30 and moved to LA. I get at least one bad one a month and they last for three days, it is usually tied to my cycle, though not always. Migraines = crying, throwing up and unbearable pain for me.
Recently the migraines have gotten much, much better and more manageable. I think there are two possible reasons for this. 1) I tried Imitrex again, and found it worked (I've tried it in the past and not noticed any benefit). It seems to stop my migraines in their tracks now, providing I can rest and take a few hours nap. 2) I've started making green / purple / brown smoothies for breakfast:
The bottle is spirulina, the plastic bag has flax seeds. The only constant ingredient are the greens and the coconut water. Otherwise I just add what I have to make it more tasty.
I didn't start the smoothies for my migraines - it was more of a general health thing to force a bit more leafy greens and anti-oxidants down my gullet. They're actually pretty good, the beets and fruit make it reasonably sweet, and so long as I blend them for longer than I think I should they are quite drinkable.
I think there maybe some minerals and nutrients that I needed in here somewhere. Maybe magnesium and potassium? Either way my migraines are more manageable which is a huge deal for me.
More sewing blogging when I get back on my feet in LA!
